Underground

Underground Services

Directional boring, excavation, hydrovac and plowing for utility corridors that cannot be disturbed.

Overview

What our underground services cover

Our underground division handles the full corridor: locate and daylight existing utilities, bore or trench the new path, place conduit and cable, set vaults and manholes, then restore the surface. Scopes are customized to your project's soil, permits and traffic-control requirements — and because we own the fleet, we can shift between bore, plow and open-cut methods without waiting on a subcontractor.

  • Trenchless bores under roadways, driveways, rail crossings and waterways
  • Non-destructive hydro excavation to verify depth and location around live utilities
  • High-production plowing for long rural and greenfield runs
  • Manhole, vault and duct-bank systems with conduit rehab and proofing
  • Backfill, compaction and full surface restoration included in scope
  • Project-management support during design and consulting phases

Safety & qualifications

Safety and qualifications

Work zones are planned and staffed by credentialed people, and the traffic control that protects them is ours — not a subcontractor's schedule.

  • Field supervisors OSHA 30 trained

Every field supervisor has completed OSHA 30 training, so hazard recognition and daily job briefings come from the person running the crew.

  • All crew leads hold Intermediate traffic-control credentials

Crew leads carry Intermediate traffic-control cards, so lane closures and work-zone setups are led by credentialed personnel.

  • In-house traffic control

We maintain our own traffic-control capability instead of waiting on a third party, which keeps work zones compliant and schedules intact.

  • VDOT approved

Expert Telecom is approved by the Virginia Department of Transportation for work within its rights-of-way.
